The Edwards 965-7A-8SW is an 8-inch square white speaker-strobe. Specifically, it pairs a 70 Vrms speaker with a 15/75 cd visual signal. First, the speaker broadcasts voice evacuation and tone signals. Then the strobe provides synchronized visual notification on the same circuit.
This appliance fits the Edwards EST 964/965 Series notification family. Therefore it is compatible with EST3, EST3X, iO64, iO500, and QuickStart panels. Furthermore, it works with any FACP that supports Genesis-pattern signal synchronization.
Edwards 965-7A-8SW Strobe Output
The strobe carries a UL 1971 listing at 15 cd. As a result, it can be wall- or ceiling-mounted in public-mode notification systems. Also, on-axis output reaches 75 cd per UL 1638 and ADA. Specifically, the LKC-1 ceiling-mount lens kit displays the “FIRE” marking when installed in a ceiling orientation. Alternatively, the LKW Series wall-orientation kits provide the wall marking.
Speaker Performance
The 8-inch mylar cone is housed behind a 12-1/2 inch (318 mm) steel baffle. In addition, the baffle carries a baked white epoxy-polyester powder-coat finish. Furthermore, a DC blocking capacitor on the input lets the FACP supervise the speaker line. The speaker uses 70 Vrms wattage taps to set output level at the device.

Application Notes
This speaker-strobe is rated for indoor dry locations only. The operating range runs 32 to 120 °F (0 to 49 °C). Also, pair the device with the 960A-8SS 8-inch square surface back box. Specifically, the square format aligns with surface-mount installations on hard ceilings.
