The Potter Electric Signal PAD300-DUCT is an addressable duct smoke detector housing. It ships complete with the PAD300-DD photoelectric duct detector head installed. Specifically, the PAD300-DUCT model has no relay output — for the relay version, the catalog number is PAD300-DUCTR.
HVAC duct smoke detectors prevent the spread of smoke through a building’s air distribution system. First, the housing mounts on the side of a supply or return duct. Then air sampling tubes draw a sample of airflow across the photoelectric detector head. As a result, the panel sees an alarm before smoke spreads to occupied spaces. Therefore, mechanical equipment can shut down promptly.
How the Potter Electric Signal PAD300-DUCT samples airflow
The housing uses a two-tube air-sampling method. Specifically, a 7-inch exhaust tube returns sampled air to the duct. In addition, the intake tube is selectable — Potter offers 2.5 ft, 5 ft, and 10 ft lengths to match the duct width. Furthermore, the housing operates across a verified air-velocity range of 100 to 4000 ft/min.
