The Edwards 1076W-M is a recessed wide-gap SPDT magnetic door contact for steel-door security applications. First, this is a security and intrusion-detection product — not a fire alarm device. Specifically, it sits in the Edwards Signaling 1076 series (formerly Sentrol, GE Security, Interlogix; now Carrier). Therefore, it pairs with burglar alarm panels and access control systems, not with fire alarm control panels.
What the Edwards 1076W-M is
This is a 1-inch diameter recessed magnetic contact for steel doors. As a result, it suits commercial doors, hollow-metal frames, and other steel-door applications. In addition, the wide-gap design tolerates greater door-to-frame misalignment than standard-gap contacts. Then the SPDT form-C output supports both normally open and normally closed wiring schemes.

Specifically, this contact is covered by UL 634 (connectors and switches for burglar alarm systems). Furthermore, the “W” in the part number means wide gap, not white — the housing is brown.
Compatibility
The 1076W-M wires to any burglar alarm panel zone input, access control DPS input, or building automation system input that accepts a dry-contact SPDT signal. In addition, the matching Form A (single-throw) sibling is the 1078 series if your panel does not require Form C.
