The Edwards 24DC12 is a 24 VDC to 12 VDC converter module that lets fire alarm panel power feed 12-volt security devices. First, this is a multi-function module — it converts voltage and provides ground isolation in one assembly. Specifically, it accepts 24 VDC input and outputs regulated 12 VDC at up to 1 A. Therefore, integrators can power 12-volt accessories from the same 24 VDC fire alarm power supply without needing a separate transformer.

What the Edwards 24DC12 module does

This module steps 24 VDC down to 12 VDC for downstream loads. As a result, devices such as motion sensors, glass-break detectors, and door contacts can run from the panel’s existing battery-backed power. In addition, it provides electrical ground isolation for UL609 / ULC-S303 Local Burglar alarm bell housings. Then a supervising module — typically a SIGA-SE on Signature Series — monitors the supervised side for integrity.

What this module is NOT

However, the 24DC12 is not itself a supervised output module — the actual supervision is performed by a separate device such as the SIGA-SE. Furthermore, it does not include its own enclosure; it mounts inside the host cabinet or wallbox using SIGA-MP plates.
