The Edwards 3-ANNSM is an annunciator support module for the EST3 annunciator cabinet family. First, the 3-ANNSM occupies one module space in the annunciator wallbox. Then, one control/display module mounts on top of the 3-ANNSM to draw power and ribbon-cable communication. As a result, the 3-ANNSM acts as the local rail and mounting backbone for each display module in a remote annunciator.
Specifically, every control/display module in an EST3 remote annunciator needs a 3-ANNSM behind it. Therefore, a 10-position annunciator typically ships with two 3-ANNSM modules pre-installed, and additional 3-ANNSM modules ship separately as the operator adds display capacity. In addition, the 3-ANNSM ribbon-cables to the 3-CPU or to adjacent 3-ANNSM modules to extend a daisy chain.
Edwards 3-ANNSM application
Use the 3-ANNSM in any EST3 remote annunciator cabinet (4-, 6-, or 10-position wallboxes, including 3-4ANN, 3-6ANN, and 10ANN families). Furthermore, the same module supports any EST3 display module — 3-12L, 3-12RY, 3-12SG, 3-12SR, 3-LCD, and similar parts. Also, the 3-ANNSM provides the structural and electrical interface that lets the user freely re-arrange display modules in the field.

The 3-ANNSM is part of the EST3 listed system, so its UL 864 coverage applies once installed in a listed cabinet. However, the module carries no standalone agency listing on its own. As a result, the 3-ANNSM should always be installed inside a current EST3 cabinet to maintain system compliance.
