The det-tronics (30-2021-24) is an ultraviolet (UV) flame detector for industrial fire detection. It senses the UV light that a flame emits.
Specifically, the detector responds to radiation in the 185 to 245 nanometer band. As a result, it reacts to flame while ignoring most other light. In fact, it stays insensitive to direct or reflected sunlight and to normal artificial lighting.

The detector has a nominal 90-degree cone of vision. Sensitivity is highest along its central axis. In addition, practical detection distance reaches up to about 50 ft (15 m), depending on flame size.
This part is the 24 VDC, non-explosion-proof version of the UV detector. It needs no periodic calibration. However, you should clean the viewing window regularly to keep full sensitivity.
Controller and Specifications
The detector operates with a Det-Tronics UV controller, such as the R7404. Furthermore, one controller can monitor several detectors across multiple zones. The system also uses Automatic Optical Integrity (oi) to self-check the optics and circuitry.
