The Siemens ADB-BOX is a retrofit adapter box for Siemens Fire Safety audible detector bases. Specifically, it solves a common field problem: the existing electrical box is too small for an audible base. As a result, you can add a sounder base without replacing the in-wall box or rewiring.
Typical jobs include two scenarios. First, an audible base is required after the electrical box was already installed. Alternatively, a new installation reuses existing wiring and backboxes. In both cases, the ADB-BOX surface-mounts over the old box.
Siemens ADB-BOX Compatibility
Siemens designed the ADB-BOX specifically for its Fire Safety brand audible bases. It is compatible with the ADB-11, ADBX-11, ADB-3, and ADBI-60 bases. Furthermore, the factory paint blends with both Series-3 and Series-11 audible bases and detectors.
Construction and Mounting
The ADB-BOX is built from steel for durability. In addition, the back plate has knockouts for wire entry. It mounts over a single-gang, double-gang, 4-inch square, or octagonal electrical box. Therefore, one adapter covers nearly any existing box you will find in the field.
