The System Sensor B224BI-IV is a 6-inch intelligent detector base with a built-in fault isolator. It mounts a System Sensor addressable detector head while protecting the signaling line circuit. As a result, a single short cannot take down the whole loop.
When a short occurs, the B224BI-IV isolates the affected loop segment. Then it automatically restores the loop once the fault clears. Therefore, the rest of the addressable devices keep reporting normally.
How the System Sensor B224BI-IV Protects the Loop
Install isolator bases on both sides of a wiring section to bracket it. Specifically, up to 25 addressable devices may sit between two isolator bases. In addition, the base supports both Class A and Class B wiring.
The base is fully supervised for reliable fault reporting. Furthermore, a tamper-resistant feature requires a tool to remove the detector head. As a result, accidental removal is prevented.
Wiring and Installation
The B224BI-IV uses a plug-in design for fast mounting. SEMS screw terminals accept 22 to 14 AWG wire. Also, terminals are provided for power and remote annunciator connections. Communication then takes place over the power lines through the detector head.
