The Bosch FAH-440 Analog Heat Detector is an addressable open-area heat sensor for the Bosch FPA-1000 fire alarm panel. First, it pairs with the FAA-440 base family for installation. Then it reports thermal events back to the panel over the analog addressable SLC.
Specifically, the FAH-440 uses a fixed-temperature element with a selectable rate-of-rise option. As a result, installers can match detection behavior to room conditions. In addition, the rate-of-rise feature can be toggled on or off through panel programming.
Where the Bosch FAH-440 fits
Use the FAH-440 in indoor dry rooms where smoke detectors are unsuitable. For example, kitchens, boiler rooms, and drying rooms often produce steam or fumes that nuisance-trip smoke heads. However, those same spaces still need code-required heat detection. Therefore, a heat detector is the right choice.
Addressing and indication
The detector accepts a valid address range from 1 to 254. Specifically, rotary switches on the back of the head set the address. In addition, a multi-color LED on the front flashes green during normal polling.
Base compatibility
The FAH-440 is a two-piece modular design that mounts to any FAA-440 base. Specifically, choose the 4 in. (10 cm) FAA-440-B4 or 6 in. (16 cm) FAA-440-B6 standard base. Alternatively, the matching FAA-440-ISO base adds short-circuit isolator protection to the SLC loop.
Listings
The FAH-440 is listed under UL 521 for heat detectors, the correct standard for thermal devices. Also UL 268 covers the SLC-connected smoke detection siblings on the same loop, not the heat head itself. Verify panel-by-panel compatibility before specifying.
