Siemens (CDC-4) Conventional detector card

The Siemens CDC-4 is a conventional detector card for FireFinder XLS and Cerberus PRO Modular panels. Specifically, it adds four conventional detection zones to these networked fire alarm systems. Also, it supports the Desigo Fire Safety Modular platform.

Each zone can be wired Class A or Class B individually. Furthermore, each zone supports compatible two-wire photoelectric or ionization smoke detectors. Normally open contact devices can also share the circuit. In addition, the card works with Siemens flame and beam detectors. Relay bases, remote lamps, and audible bases are supported as well.

How the Siemens CDC-4 Works

First, the card plugs into one slot of the CC-5 card cage. Then, three rotary dials set its HNET network address from 001 to 251. As a result, the CDC-4 occupies just one network address on the system.

Front-panel LEDs show power, card fail, HNET fail, and ground fault status. Additionally, each zone has alarm, trouble, and Class A open indicators. However, the card keeps working if the main processor or network fails. In this degrade mode, it still reports alarms and activates local outputs in the same enclosure.

Zones may be programmed as alarm-causing or supervisory-causing. Alarm Verification is also available per circuit to reduce nuisance alarms.

• Maximum circuit resistance: 70 ohms; 40 ohms with relay or audible base accessories
• Mounting: one slot in the CC-5 card cage, via two 96-pin DIN connectors
• Wiring: 18 AWG minimum, power-limited per NFPA 70 (NEC 760)

Compatible Detectors

The CDC-4 supports Siemens conventional detectors such as the PE-11, ILP-1, HI921, OH121, OP121, and DI-3 series. Additionally, the UL compatibility list covers select System Sensor, Hochiki, Edwards, Apollo, and ESL models. Therefore, always check the CDC-4 compatibility tables before mixing detector models on a zone.
