The DSC (WS4936) is a wireless residential photoelectric smoke detector with a built-in fixed-temperature and rate-of-rise heat sensor. It operates on the DSC 433 MHz legacy wireless platform — not on PowerG.
The WS4936 is a residential-grade combination smoke + heat detector. Therefore, it pairs with DSC 433 MHz wireless receivers used in residential security panels — not with commercial UL 268-listed fire alarm systems.
First, the photoelectric chamber senses smoke from smoldering fires while ignoring most cooking and steam nuisance sources. In addition, the built-in heat sensor adds fixed-temperature and rate-of-rise detection. As a result, the unit alarms on either fast-flaming or slow-smoldering events. Furthermore, automatic drift compensation keeps sensitivity stable as the chamber ages.

Important Application Note
The WS4936 is UL / ULC Residential Fire listed. It is not UL 268 listed for commercial fire alarm systems. Therefore, install it on a residential DSC security panel with a 433 MHz wireless receiver — not on a commercial fire alarm control unit. For commercial fire detection, specify a UL 268-listed addressable or conventional smoke detector instead.
