The Potter Amseco EVD-1C Safe Pak is an electronic vibration detection kit for safes, vaults, and ATM enclosures. Specifically, the “C” variant ships with an HSC High Security Safe Contact in addition to the EVD-1 vibration sensor. Furthermore, the kit is a security/intrusion product, NOT a fire alarm device.
What the Potter Amseco EVD-1C Safe Pak detects
The EVD-1 controller analyzes vibration signals from a piezoelectric sensor. Then the controller distinguishes two attack profiles. First, short-duration high-amplitude signals from explosions, hammering, or chiseling. Also, long-duration low-amplitude signals from torches, thermic lances, drills, grinders, or cutting discs. As a result, the EVD-1C detects most physical attack methods used against secured enclosures.
Primary applications
The EVD-1C suits Mercantile or Bank safes and vaults. Also, it protects ATM enclosures and night-deposit units. Furthermore, the system handles supplementary interior protection of file cabinets, display cases, walls, and ceilings. Therefore, the kit covers both perimeter and point-of-attack protection.
Electrical specifications
Power input is 9.0–16.0 VDC with 12 VDC nominal. Specifically, maximum ripple is 0.1 V. At 12.0 VDC, normal standby current is 26 mA. Furthermore, alarm current is 24 mA and tamper current is 34 mA. As a result, the kit pairs with standard 12 VDC burglar control panels.
Physical construction
The controller measures 5.10″ H × 3.26″ W × 1.20″ D (13.0 × 8.3 × 3.0 cm). Also, weight is 0.64 lb (0.29 kg). The base is die-cast aluminum. Furthermore, the cover is 22-gauge stamped steel.
Important — not a fire alarm device
The EVD-1C connects to a 24-hour burglar/hold-up zone on a security control panel. Therefore, it does NOT integrate with fire alarm control panels or NFPA 72 detection systems. Specifically, the kit’s listing is UL Burglar (UL 681), not UL Fire.
