The Edwards GCAVWN is a Genesis LED EGC Series ceiling-mount horn-strobe in a white housing with no marking. First, it combines a temporal horn with an LED clear strobe in a single ceiling appliance. As a result, the device covers both audible and visual notification from overhead.
The strobe is field-selectable at 15, 30, 75, or 115 cd. Specifically, these are DISCRETE settings — not a continuous range. Also, the ceiling family tops out at 115 cd (the comparable wall family tops at 110 cd). Furthermore, the LED design draws the same strobe current regardless of cd setting.
Verified Electrical Specifications
Operating voltage is 16 to 33 VDC filtered or 16 to 33 VFWR unfiltered. Then horn-strobe current at 24 VDC is 50 mA at low dB or 60 mA at high dB. On VFWR, current rises to 60/75 mA respectively. As a result, NAC sizing should use the high-dB number unless the device is hard-set to low dB.
Horn Output
The horn supports constant or T3 temporal patterns via a field-selectable switch. Furthermore, sound output (reverberant UL 464) is 80 dBA at low dB or 86 dBA at high dB. In anechoic measurement per CAN/ULC-5925, output reaches 92 dBA at high dB. However, NFPA 72 requires temporal-3 coding for fire notification — set the switch accordingly.
Listings
The strobe is UL 1971 listed for indoor public-mode hearing-impaired notification. Also, the horn carries UL 464 listing. Furthermore, the EGC series is UL-listed for both ceiling and wall mounting. As a result, the same appliance can serve mixed-mounting installations from one SKU.
Mounting
The GP10 room side wiring plate is INCLUDED with each device — no separate accessory order required. Then the appliance snaps onto the pre-wired plate at final installation. Compatible electrical boxes are 1-gang, 2-gang, 4-inch octagon, and 4-inch square (minimum 1-1/2 inch deep). Dimensions are 6.8 inch diameter by 1.82 inch deep.
Synchronization
Sync sources include Edwards CC Series Signal Modules, booster and auxiliary power supplies, and intelligent or conventional control panels. Then strobes hold UL sync tolerance within 10 ms over two hours. Furthermore, maximum wire resistance between any two synced devices is 20 ohms.
No Marking Note
The GCAVWN ships with no factory marking on the cover. Therefore, it suits mass notification or general alert use cases without an explicit FIRE label. However, if you need a FIRE-marked ceiling horn-strobe in white, specify the EGCAVWF instead. Alternatively, swap in an EGCAVWF-CVR cover at any time.
