The Notifier ISO-X is a Fault Isolator Module that protects an SLC loop against wire-to-wire short circuits. Also, it works with the NFS-3030, NFS2-3030, NFS-640, NFS2-640, NFS-320, and AFP-200 panels. Specifically, the ISO-X prevents one shorted segment from disabling an entire signaling line circuit.
First, install ISO-X modules between groups of addressable devices on the loop. Then, if a short occurs between two isolators, both modules open the affected segment automatically. As a result, devices outside the shorted segment keep communicating with the panel. Therefore, a localized fault does not cascade across the SLC.
How the Notifier ISO-X recovers
The module restores the isolated section automatically when the short is cleared. Furthermore, no address setting or technician reset is required. In addition, a yellow LED pulses during normal operation and latches steady when a short is detected.
The ISO-X supports a maximum of 25 addressable devices between isolators (with standard bases). However, the count differs when using relay bases or legacy IPX-751 multisensors. In addition, the module supports Style 4, Style 6, and Style 7 SLC wiring.
