The Kidde GCVWA-A is a Genesis ceiling-mount visual notification strobe. Specifically, the housing is white with an amber lens and an ALERT text marking. As a result, the device is purposed for mass notification (ECS/MNS) rather than fire alarm.
In addition, the strobe uses the Genesis cavity-design optics for a controlled distribution pattern. Therefore, the appliance projects no more than 1.6 inches from the ceiling.
Kidde GCVWA-A application
First, deploy the strobe in spaces that require differentiation between fire alerts and mass-notification alerts. Then, pair it with red-lens FIRE strobes on the same building. As a result, occupants can visually distinguish the two alert types.
