The Lenel LNL-8000 is a star multiplexer module for the LenelS2 OnGuard access control platform. Specifically, it expands one intelligent controller’s communication to many downstream boards. Therefore, a single controller can reach reader, input, and output modules across a large site.
First, the LNL-8000 runs on 12 VDC power. In addition, it provides eight downstream RS-485 2-wire ports. Alternatively, those ports configure as four RS-485 4-wire ports. As a result, integrators choose the wiring scheme that fits the installation.
How the Lenel LNL-8000 Expands a System
Each downstream port carries a multi-drop RS-485 bus. Furthermore, the star topology isolates branches from one another. Therefore, a wiring fault on one branch does not take down the others. As a result, large facilities gain both reach and reliability.
