Silent Knight (SD505-6RB) 6″ relay base, for use with addressable sensors

The Silent Knight SD505-6RB is a 6-inch addressable relay base for Silent Knight SD505 detectors. It adds a Form C relay output to a compatible addressable smoke detector. Therefore, the detector can control auxiliary functions when it goes into alarm.

First, the base carries one Form C relay rated 8.0 amps. This rating applies to 240 VAC, 120 VAC, and 30 VDC applications. As a result, it can drive auxiliary loads such as door closers, fan shutdown, or elevator recall. The relay is addressable, so it can sit anywhere on the SLC loop. In addition, the panel controls the relay through the detector’s own address.

Mounting and wiring

The SD505-6RB mounts on a standard single-gang or larger electrical box. Then the SD505 smoke base and detector head attach on top. The base supports both Class A (Style 6) and Class B (Style 4) SLC wiring. Furthermore, low-voltage and high-voltage wiring run through separate openings on the extension base. Use FPL or FPLR cable where power-limited and non-power-limited sources share the box.
