The Siemens NRC is a second-generation Network Ring Card for networked fire alarm systems. It links multiple Siemens panels together on an XNET network. Specifically, it connects FireFinder-XLS, Desigo Fire Safety Modular, and Cerberus PRO Modular systems. As a result, separate panels operate as one coordinated network.
The NRC creates a Class X (Style 7) ring for peer-to-peer communication. Alternatively, it can be configured for Class B (Style 4) operation where a ring is not needed. In that role, it serves as an alternative to the NIC-C card.
Siemens NRC fault isolation and supervision
The NRC continuously supervises the network and reports faults to the panel interface. When wired for Class X, it isolates a fault to the single link in trouble. Therefore, ring communication continues even during a wire fault. The card also performs ground-fault detection on its outgoing port.
Three front-panel LEDs show status: Power, Card Fail, and Trouble. In addition, the bezel includes an RJ-12 monitor jack for diagnostic tools. It also provides RJ-45 and USB jacks for field firmware updates.
Installation
The NRC plugs into one slot of a CC-2 or CC-5 card cage. It must reside in the same enclosure as the system’s PMI or FCM module. One NRC is required per system on the network. Field wiring connects at the card-cage terminal blocks.
