The Simplex 4098-9789 is a TrueAlarm analog sensor base with screw-terminal connections. It mounts Simplex 4098-series addressable sensors to a standard electrical box. In addition, it carries the loop wiring on captive screw terminals for clean field connections.
Specifically, the 4098-9789 is the “with connections” variant. As a result, installers wire to terminals on the base rather than splicing leads. The companion 4098-9788 is the same base without the terminal block.
How the Simplex 4098-9789 Works
First, the base mounts to a standard electrical box. Then, a TrueAlarm sensor head twists into the base. As a result, the sensor and base together form a complete addressable detector.
Furthermore, the loop carries both power and digital communications. Therefore, the host panel can poll the sensor for analog values and report individual device status.
