Hochiki SOM-A Class A Supervised Output Module
The Hochiki SOM-A is an addressable output module that drives and supervises a Class A circuit of notification appliances. First, the module sits on the Hochiki addressable loop and reports one or more output points back to the panel. As a result, the panel can activate horns, strobes, or other notification devices through a single addressable address.
Specifically, the “-A” suffix indicates Class A wiring support on the output circuit. Therefore, the module monitors the output for opens and shorts and reports faults to the panel.
How the Hochiki SOM-A Works
The SOM-A is powered and addressed from the Hochiki addressable loop. Furthermore, the output circuit is supervised continuously while idle. In addition, the module activates the output on panel command and reports fault conditions on the loop.
As a result, the panel sees the notification appliance circuit as one addressable output point with full supervision. Therefore, fault localization is faster than with conventional NAC wiring.
