The System Sensor SENS-RDR is a handheld sensitivity reader for i3 series smoke detectors. First, it lets technicians check detector sensitivity in the field. In addition, it reads each detector without removing it from the base. As a result, testing is faster and less disruptive.
How the System Sensor SENS-RDR works
The reader uses an infrared optical interface to receive data from the detector. Specifically, compatible i3 detectors transmit a reading about every ten seconds. Then the SENS-RDR shows that value on its LCD screen. The screen displays obscuration in percent per foot. Also, it shows one of three statuses: GOOD, SERVICE, or REPLACE.
- Reads i3 series smoke detector sensitivity without a physical connection
- LCD shows percent-per-foot obscuration plus GOOD, SERVICE, or REPLACE
- Infrared optical interface receives data automatically
- Use handheld, or attach a threaded extension pole
- Powered by two AA alkaline batteries with low-battery indication
- Automatically shuts off after 30 minutes to conserve power
Specifications
- Power: two AA alkaline batteries
- Auto shut-off: 30 minutes
- Dimensions: 7.1 in H x 1.4 in W x 1.1 in D
- Weight: approximately 8 oz
- Display: LCD with sensitivity value and status
Then use the SENS-RDR to support routine maintenance and NFPA 72 sensitivity checks. However, this is a diagnostic reader, not a fire alarm signaling device. Finally, confirm detector compatibility before testing.
