The Vesda VSP-031 is a replacement secondary AIR filter for the VESDA VLI aspirating smoke detector. It’s a consumable. As a result, it must be replaced on the schedule recommended by Xtralis to keep the detector performing within spec.
The VLI aspirator pulls air through sampling pipes into the detection chamber. In addition, the secondary filter scrubs fine particulate from that airstream before it reaches the optical block.
Why the Secondary Filter Matters
Aspirating smoke detectors operate at very high sensitivity. Therefore, any dust accumulation in the optics will drift the detector toward false alarms. Specifically, the VSP-031 protects the detection chamber from this buildup.
Replace this filter per Xtralis’s service interval for your installation. However, dustier environments may need shorter intervals. As a result, planning a filter inventory in advance avoids downtime.
