The Potter Electric Signal VSA-1 is a self-contained vault sound alarm controller and microphone in a single housing. It is UL Listed for primary protection of bank and mercantile vaults.
First, the microprocessor balances the microphone circuit against the controller’s internal impedance. Then any change in impedance — for example, a vault wall being attacked — triggers the SPDT alarm relay. As a result, the VSA-1 detects both rising and falling impedance, covering a wide range of attack methods.

Where the VSA-1 Is Used
Specifically, the VSA-1 is intended for reverberant and non-reverberant vaults. For example, bank vaults, jeweler vaults, and high-value mercantile vaults all qualify. Therefore, the device belongs in burglary and safe protection systems, not in fire alarm voice evacuation systems.
