The Simplex 4081-9011 resistor is an end-of-line (EOL) resistor rated 100 ohm, 1/2 watt. It supervises a monitored circuit. As a result, the panel can detect wiring faults.

First, the resistor mounts at the end of the circuit. Then it passes a small supervisory current. In addition, a break in the wiring interrupts that current. Therefore the panel signals a trouble condition.
