The POTTER CPS-24 is a conventional photoelectric smoke detector designed for 24 VDC fire alarm systems. It uses a light-scattering sensing chamber to detect smoke.
Specifically, the CPS-24 catches the larger combustion particles produced by slow, smoldering fires. As a result, it is well suited to the smoke profiles common in commercial occupancies.
How the POTTER CPS-24 Detects Smoke
An infrared LED and photodiode sit at angles inside the sensing chamber. In normal air, the photodiode sees no light. However, when smoke particles enter the chamber, they scatter light onto the photodiode. Therefore, the detector signals alarm.
In addition, the chamber is designed to keep insects and large airborne debris out. As a result, the optics stay cleaner over the life of the detector.
Where the CPS-24 Fits
The POTTER CPS-24 is appropriate for offices, schools, retail spaces, and other commercial occupancies on a 24 VDC initiating circuit. Furthermore, it is a common drop-in replacement for aging photoelectric detectors on existing conventional systems.
