CONVENTIONAL PHOTOELECTRIC SMOKE DETECTOR

The Potter CPSD-24V is a conventional photoelectric smoke detector listed to UL 268 7th Edition. First, multi-spectrum smoke categorization detects both smoldering and flaming fires, including polyurethane fuels. In addition, the technology reduces nuisance alarms from cooking sources.

The detector uses an IR LED, a blue LED, and a photodiode to characterize smoke. Specifically, the listed smoke density range is 1.50-3.50%/ft at 300 FPM in open areas. Furthermore, the unit suits in-duct applications at 1,000-4,000 FPM at the same sensitivity range.

Potter CPSD-24V operation and indicators

A bi-color status LED flashes green every 3 seconds during normal standby. Then a red flash every 3 seconds indicates the sensor has drifted outside the UL window. Also, the LED latches solid red when the unit goes into alarm.

In addition, automatic drift compensation tracks sensitivity over time. As a result, the panel sees a trouble signal before the head exceeds spec. The detector also accepts an internally limited remote indicator at 8.0 mA.

Electrical and physical specs

The operating voltage range is 8-35 VDC, with a 42 VDC absolute maximum. Specifically, standby current is 59 μA, alarm current 5-150 mA. Furthermore, the body measures 3.94″ diameter × 1.77″ tall and weighs 3.4 oz in ivory finish.

Compatible bases include the NS4-100, NS6-100, NS4/NS6-220/221/224, SB-46, SB-93, and HSC-4R/220R/221R/224R series. Also, a built-in magnetic test feature simplifies field functional checks. Operating range covers 32°F to 120°F with humidity below 95% RH.
