The Notifier DS-SFM is a single-mode fiber option module for digital audio systems. It converts one wire digital audio port to single-mode fiber. As a result, it extends emergency voice communication over longer fiber-optic runs.
What the Notifier DS-SFM Does
This module converts one of the two digital audio ports on a host device from wire to fiber. Specifically, it works with the DAA2, DAX, DS-DB, and DVC platforms. For DVC hosts, it requires the DVC-EMPCC version or later.
A digital audio loop (DAL) can carry wire, single-mode fiber, and multi-mode fiber together. Therefore, installers can mix media on one loop using fiber option modules. You may install one or two modules per device. As a result, the loop runs partially or wholly over fiber.
Where It Fits
The DS-SFM supports single-mode fiber links within a Notifier digital audio network. In addition, it integrates with the DVC Digital Voice Command system. Choose the DS-SFM for single-mode runs. The DS-FM instead handles multi-mode fiber.
