The Eaton ELFHSR is a Wheelock Eluxa low-frequency sounder-strobe for fire alarm service. It is a wall-mount appliance with a red housing, FIRE lettering, integrated LED strobe, and 24 VDC operation.
First, the audible produces a 520 Hz tone that meets NFPA 72 low-frequency requirements for sleeping rooms. Then, the LED strobe flashes once per second at a 20 ms pulse duration, which meets the 2016 NFPA 72 requirement to share a field of view with xenon strobes. As a result, the ELFHSR delivers both audible and visual notification from a single device.

The strobe intensity is field selectable: 110 cd or 177 cd. In addition, the installer chooses one of three horn patterns: Continuous, T3 fire, or T3/T4 (fire/CO sync control). Therefore, one part number covers a range of sleeping-room layouts.

Electrical and Synchronization
The ELFHSR operates from 16 to 33 VDC or VFWR (24 V only — no 12 V mode on the LF line). Also, the strobe synchronizes via Wheelock DSM Sync Modules or PS Power Supplies using Wheelock’s patented sync protocol. Furthermore, the audible silences while the strobe stays active when wired through a sync module.
Mounting and Listings
The ELFHSR ships with a hinged mounting plate. Specifically, it accepts ELSPKBB wall backboxes, single-gang backboxes, or 4-inch square boxes. In addition, the appliance is listed under UL 1971, UL 1638, UL 464, CAN/ULC-S525, CAN/ULC-S526, CSFM, RoHS, and FCC Part 15.
Wall dimensions: 6.35 in H x 4.56 in W x 1.54 in D. Furthermore, the UV-stabilized engineered-plastic housing exceeds UL 94V-0 flammability rating.
