The Eaton ESBCR is a Wheelock Exceder Series ceiling surface-mount backbox. Specifically, the ESBCR is a red sheet-metal enclosure that lets Cooper Notification Exceder ceiling horns, strobes, and horn-strobes mount cleanly to a finished ceiling where no recessed box exists.
First, the backbox provides a finished mounting surface for the ceiling-mount Exceder appliance. Then, the appliance secures to the box using its standard mounting plate. As a result, the install looks intentional and the wiring sits protected behind the appliance.
Eaton ESBCR Construction
The ESBCR is a rugged sheet-metal enclosure with conduit knockouts for flexible wire entry. In addition, the red finish matches the standard red Exceder ceiling appliance family. Therefore, the visible finish stays uniform across all ceiling notification appliances on the run.

Listings
The ESBCR is UL and ULC listed for use with Cooper Notification Exceder ceiling appliances. As a result, mounting the appliance on the ESBCR preserves the agency listing of the parent appliance. Note: this is a passive enclosure — no electrical components, no candela rating, no audible output. Therefore, no part-level UL 1971 or UL 464 listing applies.
What This Part Is Not
The ESBCR is specifically for the Exceder Series ceiling notification appliances. However, it is NOT for the newer Eluxa LED line (which uses LSPKBB-CR/CW or 4" square boxes). Also, it is NOT for the older Wheelock MT, E50, or ASWP families. Always match the backbox to the exact appliance series and color before ordering.
