The Edwards GCI is a Graphic Annunciator Interface card that connects Edwards Intelligent fire alarm control panels to an LED-based graphic annunciator display. First, it drives the LEDs that illuminate floor plans, equipment status icons, or zone diagrams. As a result, building occupants and responders see real-time alarm conditions on a custom graphic representation of the facility.
The Edwards GCI is an interface card, not a standalone annunciator. Therefore, it must be paired with a graphic panel display and an Edwards Intelligent control panel – for example, the E-FSA250 or E-FSA64. LED Capacity
The Edwards GCI supports up to 32 LEDs when paired with an E-FSA250 control panel. Furthermore, it supports up to 16 LEDs when paired with an E-FSA64 panel. As a result, the card matches the addressable point capacity of both small and mid-size analog/addressable fire alarm systems.
Communication and Configuration
The GCI communicates with the host fire alarm control panel over the RS-485 data riser. Then the riser can be configured for Class A (fault-tolerant) or Class B (single-path) wiring. Also, the card includes onboard status LEDs and an internal buzzer for local indication of system events at the annunciator location.
Mounting
The Edwards GCI ships with snap-track mounting and attaches to a plastic mounting rail. Specifically, the assembly requires two EIA panels for proper mounting in a graphic annunciator enclosure. Furthermore, this approach lets integrators build custom graphic annunciators with multiple GCI cards for systems with more than 32 LEDs.
Application
Use the Edwards GCI in commercial and institutional buildings where a graphic annunciator provides clearer situational awareness than a text-based LCD readout. For example, hospitals, schools, and multi-floor office buildings benefit from a graphic display of the alarm location. However, confirm panel firmware compatibility before specifying – software setup is required at the host FACP.
