The Kidde FX-ISO is an SLC fault isolator module for the Kidde FX Series intelligent fire alarm panels. Specifically, it segments and isolates short circuits on the SLC loop. As a result, a single short does not silence the entire loop of intelligent devices.
Furthermore, the FX-ISO works with Kidde FX-64 and FX-1000 panels per the K85000-0373 FX Series quick reference. In addition, up to 64 isolators may be installed on a single SLC loop.
Kidde FX-ISO function
First, the module monitors the SLC for short-circuit faults. Then, if a short occurs, the isolator opens to isolate the affected segment. Therefore, devices on healthy segments continue to communicate with the panel. Also, this supports Style 6 and Style 7 SLC wiring per NFPA 72.
Application
The FX-ISO is for FX Intelligent SLC loops. Therefore, deploy isolators between groups of devices that protect different floors, zones, or smoke compartments. As a result, a wiring fault in one area does not disable detection in others.
