The Kidde SD-T8 is an 8-inch air sampling tube for duct smoke detector housings. Specifically, it inserts through the duct wall into the airstream to capture sample air.
In addition, the SD-T8 fits Edwards SuperDuct and Kidde Optica duct smoke detector housings. As a result, integrators can use one tube family across multiple detector platforms.
Kidde SD-T8 selection
First, select the tube length based on duct width. Then, the 8-inch SD-T8 covers small ducts up to roughly that width. As a result, the holes in the tube align with the airstream cross-section.
Furthermore, the SD Series tube family includes additional lengths. Specifically, options include the SD-T18, SD-T24, SD-T36, SD-T42, SD-T60, SD-T78, and SD-T120 for wider ducts.
Application
Use the SD-T8 only where the duct width matches the tube length. Otherwise, an undersized tube samples an incomplete cross-section of the airstream.
