Potter Electric Signal (PDC-612) 12vdc 6in bell

The Potter Electric Signal PDC-612 is a 6-inch, 12 VDC vibrating fire alarm bell. First, the motor-driven mechanism delivers high-decibel audible signaling. Then, the polarized design supports supervised alarm circuits. As a result, the bell suits both fire and general signaling applications.

The PDC-612 uses a motor-driven striker against a steel gong. In addition, the unit has built-in transient protection. As a result, the bell tolerates voltage spikes typical of supervised notification circuits.

The cover is steel with a red powder coat finish. Furthermore, the base is a non-corrosive composite material. Therefore, the bell holds up in both indoor and outdoor service.

Mounting and use

For indoor use, the bell mounts directly on a standard 4-inch square electrical box. Alternatively, outdoor installs require a Model BBK-1 or HC-BB weatherproof back box. Specifically, the weatherproof back box stock number is 1500001.

The top of the device must be installed no less than 90 inches above the finished floor. In addition, it must sit no less than 6 inches below the ceiling per NFPA 13 / 72 / local AHJ. Also, the striker must point down or the bell will not ring.
