The Protectowire ZB-HD-5-QC-NT is a non-metallic fiberglass junction box for Protectowire installations. Specifically, the enclosure carries a NEMA-4X (IP66) rating. Specifically, the enclosure terminates a Protectowire run or splices between sections. Furthermore, the “-NT” variant uses the TCTB-NT terminal block and replaces the discontinued ZB-HD-5-QC.
What the Protectowire ZB-HD-5-QC-NT enclosure does
A Protectowire run must terminate at an approved zone box at each end. Then the zone box transitions the detector cable to standard copper conductors. As a result, the install meets NFPA 70 and NFPA 72 wiring rules. The ZB-HD-5-QC-NT provides this termination in harsh environments.
Environmental ratings
NEMA-4X means watertight, dust-tight, and corrosion-resistant. Also, IP66 confirms protection against powerful water jets. Therefore, the box suits washdown, outdoor, and corrosive industrial spaces.
Construction
The enclosure is fiberglass, not metal. As a result, the box resists corrosion and chemical attack better than painted steel. In addition, the lid seals against a captive gasket and uses quarter-turn fasteners.
Dimensions and operating envelope
The enclosure measures 6″ H × 6″ W × 4″ D. Also, the operating temperature range runs −40°F to 266°F (−40°C to 130°C). Furthermore, the box uses the TCTB-NT terminal block for detector terminations.
CTI linear heat compatibility
The ZB-HD-5-QC-NT is rated for use with CTI linear heat detector cable. Specifically, “CTI” stands for Confirmed Temperature Initiation. Therefore, installers using PHSC instead should reference the appropriate PHSC-rated zone box from the Protectowire catalog.
