The Simplex 4081-9018 is a 10 kΩ, 1 W end-of-line resistor harness. First, it supervises the wiring continuity on Class B fire alarm circuits. In addition, the harness presents a known resistance at the far end of the run. Therefore, the panel detects open or shorted wiring during normal monitoring.
10 kΩ EOLR Harness Specifications
The resistor is rated 10 kΩ at 1 W with ±5% tolerance. Specifically, the leads run 18 AWG with 600 V black insulation. As a result, the harness suits standard initiating-device circuit termination. Furthermore, the overall assembly length runs about 9-1/2 inches (241 mm).
Lead Preparation
Wire length measures 7 inches (178 mm), ±1 inch (25 mm). Then, the leads come stripped 0.5 inch (13 mm) and tinned for field landing. In addition, the resistor leads are crimped to the wires. Furthermore, the joint is covered with heat-shrink tubing for mechanical and electrical protection.
Listing and Application
The 4081-9018 is UL Listed for use as a Class B end-of-line resistor. However, projects that require a different supervision value should select the matching 4081-series harness. Also, follow the panel installation manual for the correct EOLR value on each circuit type.
