The Silent Knight SK-ISO is an addressable fault isolator module for Silent Knight fire alarm systems. It protects the Signaling Line Circuit (SLC) loop against wiring short circuits. Therefore, a single fault cannot disable an entire branch of addressable devices.
Silent Knight SK-ISO circuit protection
First, the module continuously watches the SLC loop voltage. When that voltage drops below four volts, the isolator opens automatically. As a result, it isolates the shorted segment while the rest of the loop keeps working. Then, once the fault clears, the isolator restores the connection. In addition, placing isolators between groups of devices limits how many addresses a single short can affect.
Electrical and listings
The SK-ISO operates on 15 to 32 VDC from the SLC loop. Its standby draw stays at or below 450 microamps when the relay is closed. During isolation, current rises to roughly 17 milliamps. Furthermore, the module is UL listed and supports NFPA 72 system designs. It installs as an addressable device on a compatible Silent Knight panel.
