The System Sensor M500X fault isolator module protects addressable signaling line circuits from short faults. It works as an automatic switch. When line voltage drops below 4 volts, the module opens the circuit. As a result, a single short cannot take down the whole loop.
Install isolators between groups of sensors or modules on the SLC. If a short occurs between two isolators, both switch open and isolate only that segment. Meanwhile, the rest of the loop keeps operating. System Sensor recommends no more than 20 devices per isolated group.
An onboard LED flashes during normal operation. During a short, the LED turns on steady. Once the fault clears and the line recovers past 7 volts, the module restores the loop automatically.
