The Potter Electric Signal VSR-6 is a vane-type waterflow switch sized for 6-inch sprinkler pipe. It detects water movement through the pipe and signals the fire alarm panel.
Specifically, the VSR-6 mounts in a tee or saddle on the sprinkler riser or branch. As a result, any sustained flow — typically from an opened sprinkler head — triggers an alarm at the host panel.
How the Potter Electric Signal VSR-6 Detects Flow
A flexible vane inside the pipe sits in the path of the water. When water flows, the vane deflects. Therefore, the switch contacts inside the housing change state.
In addition, the VSR-6 includes a built-in pneumatic retard. As a result, brief pressure surges from city water or a fire pump start do not trigger nuisance alarms.
Where the VSR-6 Fits
Use the Potter Electric Signal VSR-6 on 6-inch wet sprinkler systems in commercial offices, warehouses, schools, healthcare facilities, and industrial buildings. Furthermore, it is a common spec on new construction and retrofit projects alike.
