The Simplex 2098-9734 is a 120V detector power pack. Specifically, it powers 4-wire smoke detectors and similar initiating devices. The unit accepts 120 VAC line input and provides regulated detector power on the output side. As a result, conventional 4-wire detectors receive a clean, supervised power source separate from the panel’s IDC or NAC circuits.
Where the Simplex 2098-9734 is used
First, the power pack mounts in or near the FACP enclosure. Then, an installer wires line power to the input and routes detector power on the output. In addition, the unit’s reset behavior ties into the panel’s detector-reset logic. Therefore, the power-pack relay drops detector power during a panel reset cycle.
