The Simplex 2098-9211 is a reconditioned two-wire mounting base for legacy Simplex conventional smoke detector heads. Specifically, it supports the Simplex 2098 series of two-wire ionization and photoelectric detector heads on conventional initiating device circuits.
In addition, the base is professionally reconditioned and functionally tested. As a result, it offers a budget-friendly path to keep aging Simplex 2098-series installations in service.
What the Simplex 2098-9211 Is — and Isn’t
First, this is a conventional two-wire base — not an addressable (MAPNET / IDNet) base. Therefore, it does not communicate device-by-device to a panel. Instead, the panel sees only zone-level alarm state on the initiating device circuit.
However, on a two-wire base the same pair carries detector DC power and the alarm signal. As a result, the wiring is simpler than four-wire designs that require a separate power pair.
