The Simplex 4100-1246 is a Flex-50 Class A adapter for 4100ES and 4100U amplifiers.
It converts the three on-board NACs on a Flex-35/50 amplifier to Class A operation. First, the adapter mounts on the Flex-35/50 assembly. Then it re-routes the notification appliance circuits for Class A wiring.
Simplex 4100-1246 Class A operation
Class A wiring adds a return path for fault tolerance. Normally, the circuits supervise from the B terminals. However, on a short or open in the field wiring, power feeds from both the A and B terminals. As a result, all speakers keep working from a single terminal.
Each converted NAC is rated 2 A, 50 W, or 100 speakers maximum. In addition, supervision current is 1 mA and alarm current is 30 mA. Therefore, the 4100-1246 is the correct Class A adapter for Flex-35/50 amplifiers.
