The dsc (ws4985) is a one-way wireless flood detector. It warns a security system when water reaches the floor.
The unit has two parts. Specifically, a flood sensor connects to a wireless transmitter by a 6 ft (1.82 m) cable. As a result, you can place the probe low near a likely leak. Meanwhile, the transmitter mounts higher on the wall.

The detector watches continuously for flood conditions. Then, when water is present, it sends a wireless alarm to the panel receiver. In addition, a built-in reed switch lets it work as a door or window contact with a magnet.
A hardwired normally closed device can also connect to the contact input. Also, a tamper switch reports any attempt to disable the unit.
