The Ditek DTK-ESS is a compact in-line surge suppressor for 24 V access-control door hardware. Specifically, it protects electric door strikes and magnetic locks from voltage transients. In addition, it ships as a pair so you can protect both ends of the lock circuit.
First, the DTK-ESS installs in parallel with the lock. As a result, it does not impede the lock’s normal operation. Furthermore, the compact 2.4-inch vinyl-sleeve form factor fits inside door frames and access-control panels. Therefore, no separate enclosure is required.
Also, electric strikes and mag locks present a vulnerable surge path. Specifically, low-voltage wiring runs through metal frames back to the access control panel. As a result, lightning-induced or switching transients on that path can damage the panel’s solenoid driver. The DTK-ESS clamps these transients at the lock end, before they reach the panel.

Installation Note
The DTK-ESS is sold in pairs for a reason. Specifically, one unit installs at the lock end and one at the panel end. As a result, transients are clamped at both terminations of the cable. Also, the parallel connection means the device does not interrupt the lock circuit if it fails. Therefore, the door continues to operate. However, the surge path is no longer protected. Replacement after a strike is recommended.
