The Potter Electric Signal EVD-R is the remote pickup component of the EVD-2 vibration detector system. First, it works as a satellite sensor wired to a host EVD-M controller. Then, the EVD-M analyzes vibration signals from each connected EVD-R. As a result, security integrators extend safe and vault coverage across larger enclosures.

Each EVD-M controller supports up to fifteen EVD-R remote pickups. In addition, the EVD-M fully supervises EVD-R wiring throughout the protected installation. Specifically, the system is UL and ULC listed for safe, vault, ATM, and mercantile applications. Therefore, technicians use EVD-Rs to scale coverage without adding more controllers.
The EVD-R uses the same piezoelectric sensor as the EVD-M. Furthermore, each remote includes a built-in test circuit and a multi-color status LED. Also, the remote draws roughly 3 mA per unit added to the system bus.
Coverage considerations
One detector covers up to 96 inches of linear distance on steel safes. However, composite safe construction allows up to 110 inches per detector. As a result, larger safes typically need additional EVD-R units. For example, a single-door steel safe with linear distance up to 192 inches requires two detectors total.

Installation reference
First, install EVD-R remotes per UL standard 681. Then, wire each remote back to the EVD-M using high-security cable (Potter stock 5210408 recommended). Finally, follow the Potter spacing tables to verify coverage on every protected surface. For modular constructions, install one detector per panel.
