The XP95-P is an addressable photoelectric smoke detector. It belongs to Apollo’s widely deployed XP95 series. Gamewell-FCI sells it under the same part as 55000-650APO.

First, the sensor uses the light-scatter principle to detect smoke. Specifically, an infrared emitter and receiver sit in a chevron-style optical chamber. As a result, slow-burning and smouldering fires trigger detection early. In addition, an insect-resistant screen guards the chamber from false alarms.

How the xp95-p Communicates

The detector reports analog values back to the panel. Specifically, its quiescent value is nominal 25, with an alarm threshold near 55. Then the panel decides alarm, pre-alarm, or normal state in software. Therefore, threshold tuning happens at the panel — not inside the head.

Also, the L1 and L2 loop terminals are polarity insensitive. As a result, wiring mistakes during install are far less likely.
