The Kidde 1501-AQN5 is a floor-mounted electromagnetic door holder for single doors, from the Edwards/Kidde 1500 Series. Specifically, it is the multi-voltage model that accepts 24 VAC, 24 VDC, or 120 VAC. As a result, it works with most fire alarm and building control systems out of the box.
First, the housing comes finished in a durable baked polyester powder paint in aluminum color. Then, the floor plate and floor housing assemble with the supplied gaskets to form a weatherproof electrical junction box. Therefore, conduit can land directly into the floor plate.
In addition, fail-safe operation is inherent. However, the magnet only holds while energized. As a result, any power loss or fire alarm release relay drop releases the door immediately. Furthermore, doors can still be opened or closed manually at any time.
