The Potter Electric Signal PAD200-PHD is a UL 268 7th Edition combination photoelectric smoke and heat detector. First, it senses smoke across a wide sensitivity range. Then, the integrated thermistor adds rate-of-rise and fixed-temperature heat detection. As a result, one device covers two common fire signatures from a single ceiling location.

The photo sensor uses a wide selectable sensitivity range of 1.0 to 3.5%/ft. In addition, the heat sensor uses a thermistor with a 135°F fixed alarm threshold. Specifically, an optional rate-of-rise mode triggers at 15°F/min (8.3°C/min). Therefore, one device handles slow-developing smoldering fires and fast-developing flaming fires.
The PAD200-PHD includes drift compensation. As a result, the sensor stays calibrated despite gradual dirt buildup. Furthermore, a built-in dirty detector warning fires before nuisance trouble events occur.
System integration
The PAD200-PHD uses the Potter Addressable Device (PAD) protocol. Furthermore, it consumes one SLC address per detector. Specifically, the address sets with DIP switches on the rear of the sensor. Therefore, technicians configure addresses without any programming tool.
The total polling speed is less than five seconds. In addition, the LED flashes each time the unit is polled. Also, the polling LED can be turned off for less conspicuous operation.

Compatible bases
The PAD200-PHD twists onto any PAD-series sensor base. Specifically, the PAD100-4DB (3992731) is the 4″ standard base. In addition, the PAD100-6DB (3992732) is the 6″ standard base. Also, PAD100-IB (3992730) adds an isolator and PAD100-RB (3992728) adds a Form C relay. Therefore, integrators choose the base based on isolation, relay, sounder, or speaker needs (PAD100-SB stock 3992729; PAD100-SPKB stock 3992762).
