The Protectowire CTM-530E is a CTI interface module in a NEMA-4X enclosure. It connects a fire alarm control panel to Protectowire Type CTI linear heat detector. As a result, one supervised zone of CTI detection ties into the host panel.
The module uses Protectowire’s patented Confirmed Temperature Initiation technology. First, it monitors the CTI detector for a short. Then, it measures the temperature at that short. Therefore, it tells a true thermal alarm apart from a mechanical short circuit.
Detection and Outputs
The detection circuit can be field-wired for Class A (Style D) or Class B (Style B). In addition, it supports up to 4,000 ft (1,220 m) of CTI detector. An integrated Alarm Point Location Meter shows the distance to the alarm in feet or meters.
Three sets of Form C (SPDT) contacts report Alarm, Trouble, and Short Fault. Also, two 4-20mA outputs cover module status and alarm point location. Furthermore, Modbus over RS-485 and a 64-event history log are built in.
