The Protectowire SR-502 is a sealed strain relief connector, also called a cable gland. Specifically, it secures Protectowire linear heat detector cable where it enters a junction box. Moreover, it seals that entry against dirt and moisture. As a result, the detector stays protected at every box.
Protectowire SR-502 specifications
First, the body is iron with a zinc-plated finish and a PVC grommet. In addition, it carries a watertight and oiltight rating. It accepts cable jacket diameters from 0.10 to 0.20 inches. Also, the dome fitting and locking nut use 1/2-inch NPT threads. The connector is rated to 194°F (90°C).
Listings and installation
The SR-502 is UL Listed for NEMA 4 and NEMA 6 service. However, that rating applies in an NPT threaded entry or UL Listed conduit hub. Then torque the connector 1.5 to 3 turns past finger tight. Therefore, avoid over-tightening during installation.
