The Protectowire CTI-135-XLT is a Confirmed Temperature Initiation (CTI) linear heat detector. It carries a fixed alarm temperature of 135°F (57°C). Furthermore, its Type XLT jacket is built for cold storage and freezer environments.
This detector senses heat anywhere along its length. First, two metallic-alloy conductors are insulated with a heat-sensitive polymer. Then, they are twisted together under spring tension and jacketed. As a result, the conductors short at the first point to reach the rated temperature.
Confirmed Temperature Initiation Technology
CTI is a multi-sensor, digital detection method. Specifically, it confirms the temperature at the short before declaring an alarm. Therefore, it distinguishes a true thermal alarm from a mechanical short circuit. This greatly improves immunity to false alarms.
A Protectowire CTM interface module is required to supervise every CTI detector. In addition, the module can display the alarm location when fitted with the Alarm Point Location Meter. Polarity must be maintained: the copper conductor is positive, the silver is negative.
